Player of the Match

That's a wrap of our coverage for the first game of the inaugural SA20. Do join us tomorrow when the Durban Super Giants take on the Joburg Super Kings. Till then, this is Saurabh Shankar, signing off on behalf of Sagar Chawla and Praveen Kumar.

Rashid Khan: So happy to start the new competition with a win. Great effort from the boys, the way Jofra and Sam bowled. We need to keep this momentum now. Bowling unit we have is one of the best, as a captain it makes things so much easier. Just about using the right guys and focus on doing the right things. (On Jofra Archer) Amazing comeback, it is super hard to do this. We saw him in practice and we knew he was ready to go, Glad to see him back to full tilt, nice to be on the field with him, not against him. The guys are all stepping up, everyone is keen to come in and perform. We know how good Brevis hits them, but today he took his time and managed the innings so well. The youngsters are all stepping up, should be a great learning for all. (On Cape Town crowds)New home ground for me, thanks to the crowds for coming. Great to see the crowds back in franchise cricket, we hope to give them our best performances.

Dewald Brevis | Player of the Match: Firstly, thanks to the crowd for the great support. Brilliant atmosphere, really enjoyed batting. I want to also thank God, it is wasn't for him I wouldn't be here. My relationship with AB is very special. He's played a key role in my development and gives me right advice all the time. (On Rabada and LIvingstone joining in) It's not my worry, it is for other teams to worry.

David Miller: Conditions were a bit tough as we batted up front. Got a bit easier. But can't take anything away from them, they played well and put us under pressure. Two dropped catches is never good in a T20 competition. Fielding will be a massive push from us in this tournament. (On Brevis' batting)At the back end, it was really good to watch. Really big talent, wish him all the best. (On Jofra Archer) Morgs and I were chatting and he was saying it is nice to see him back in world cricket. Bowling 150 at ease. (On next game) Two days off now, we need to go back to the drawing board and improve.

20:38 Local Time, 18:38 GMT, 00:08 IST: Shades of the IPL curtain raiser here to start off the SA20 League. A very one-sided game, captivated by a stunning individual batting performance. Today, the performance came from young Dewald Brevis, who showed the world why he is rated so highly. An unbeaten knock of 70 off just 41 balls, as he scored five sixes and four fours in his knock. He found some good support from fellow opener Ryan Rickelton and then Sam Curran, and finally Rassie Van Dussen applied the finishing touches. Earlier in the day, a returning Jofra Archer picked up 3/27 to break the back of the Paarl Royals innings. Jos Buttler scored a fifty and David Miller chipped in with 42, but the visitors could only manage 142. That target was easily chased, as MI Cape Town also claimed the bonus point. Stick around for the presentations...

15.3 Fortuin to Brevis, 1 run, sliding it quicker onto off, Brevis dosen't go for the glory shot and calmly pushes this towards mid-wicket with all fielders staying deep. Bonus point claimed, a clinical win for the home side!

15.2 Fortuin to van der Dussen, 1 run, pitched up, driven to long-on. Over to Baby AB to finish off the game

15.1 Fortuin to van der Dussen, SIX, fuller on middle, Van der Dussen dances to the pitch and slams this over long-on for a maximum. It wasn't middled and the bat turned as he played that, but he'll still collect six

Bjorn Fortuin [3.0-0-15-0] is back into the attack

MICT: 135-2 after 15 overs

14.6 Codi Yusuf to Brevis, no run, full outside off, Brevis shuffled away again and couldn't reach onto this one. Nonetheless, he's got his team to just eight shy of the target. And there's still one over to claim the bonus point

14.5 Codi Yusuf to Brevis, FOUR, hard length on middle, Brevis shuffles away to crunch this over extra cover for a boundary! Just shows he can hit them off side as well...

14.4 Codi Yusuf to Brevis, FOUR, full and too leg side, Brevis flicks it behind square. Uses the pace of the bowler and despite the deep mid-wicket being in place that'll run away for four. He's in a hurry to finish this game!

14.3 Codi Yusuf to Brevis, SIX, length ball that was pace off, Brevis waits and lifts it straight over the bowler's head. This was a straight six, all bottom hand power. Dewald Brevis made it look super easy!

14.2 Codi Yusuf to van der Dussen, 1 run, yorker on off, driven to the right of mid-on to get off the mark

Rassie van der Dussen, right handed bat, comes to the crease

14.1 Codi Yusuf to Sam Curran, out Caught by Miller!! ]Length ball on off, was the cutter. Curran gives it a big heave targetting the short leg boundary. Toe-ended it a bit and got way more elevation than distance. The ball went a mile up in the air but Miller at long-on has one of the safest hands in the business. Makes the catch look easy. Sam Curran c Miller b Codi Yusuf 20(16) [4s-1 6s-2]M

Codi Yusuf to Sam Curran, THATS OUT!! Caught!!

Codi Yusuf [2.0-0-18-0] is back into the attack

Two overs, 23 to get for the bonus point.

MICT: 120-1 after 14 overs

13.6 Simmonds to Sam Curran, 1 run, full and straight, driven powerfully towards long-off
