Having played close to 100 first-class matches since his debut in 2009, Shaun von Berg has a huge amount of experience as a spinner and a handy lower-order batsman. Known for his wily leg spin bowling and ability to hit big shots, von Berg made his first-class debut representing Northerns before he moved to Titans. The leg-spinner has had to compete with Tabraiz Shamsi in that Titans line-up for his place, hence that has always kept him on his toe and he has often come up with prominent performances at the domestic level.

Year 2018 proved to be a fruitful year for Shaun von Berg as he represented the touring South Africans and South Africa A against Sri Lanka Board XI and India A respectively. It was because of his dependable domestic performances that the leg-spinner earned a place in the South Africa A team, in spite of him being 31. For his ability to take wickets and strike regularly in domestic cricket, von Berg was also included in South Africa's Test squad to tour Sri Lanka. However, the leggie didn't get a chance to make his Test debut as Keshav Maharaj was picked over him. von Berg's team-mates at Titans rate him very high for his consistency and control on his spin. For wrist spinners it's always difficult but when it comes to Shaun, his stock delivery (legbreak) is his chief weapon.

With nearly 350 first-class wickets and 5 centuries, Shaun von Berg has great potential to make his Test debut but the presence of other abiding performers might make it difficult for him to get that opportunity he's waited for.
