Profile
Son of Ian Cockbain senior, who played for Lancashire, junior Ian honed his skills as part of MCC young cricketer's programme for three years and before that by playing for Lancashire 2nd XI side. In late 2010, Ian joined Gloucestershire and has been a prominent member of the Limited overs side.

In April 2011, Cockbain was handed his first-class debut but he managed only 542 runs from 21 innings which included a maiden ton. He played 15 Championship games in 2012 but only 10 more in the next two seasons as his numbers refused to improve.

After the end of the county season in 2014, Cockbain went to Australia to play grade cricket for East Torrens. Things looked better for him but a wrist injury in 2015 crashed his career which was again taking off. Post his comeback in 2016, the Liverpool born middle-order batsman has been in the thick of the action in white ball cricket. He signed a new three-year deal after the end of the 2016 season.
