Lahore Qalandars vs Peshawar Zalmi, Eliminator 2 (loser Qualifier v winner Eliminator 1)
Lahore Qalandars won by 4 wkts
That's it for tonight. We will be back tomorrow for the big final. See you there. Until then sleep tight, well and with cuddles. Bye.
Shaheen Shah Afridi | Lahore captain: In big games there will be pressure. If the toss doesn't go our way it is even harder, and we spoke about we have to do well regardless of batting or bowling first. The balls on a hard length at the end was gripping when we bowled first. We have the team to get these runs, credit to Tahir for the way he batted. I am trying my best to give to the team always in batting, bowling and fielding. I want to come out to bat when the situation demands. Lahore's crowd always supported us and tomorrow is a big day, hopefully we will play well and hopefully we will win.
Tahir Baig | Player of the Match: They had trust on me - Shaheen bhai gave me the confidence. I was backing my ability and I give credit to the team and especially Shaheen bhai for the trust. After Fakhar bhai got out, Ahsan Bhatti gave the momentum and Abdullah came out and told me to back myself. If there were wickets in hand, the runs could be chased down and I wanted to play 30-35 balls.
Babar Azam | Peshawar captain: The score was less and we didn't get the finish. We were 100 in 11 overs but lost the plot from overs 11-15. We should have got 180-185 with the start we got but credit to the way Lahore bowled. The wicket was not two-paced, there was a bit of uneven bounce for the fast bowlers and the ball reverses here in Lahore after 10 overs. Our bowling was also not up to the mark, we started well for the first 8-9 overs but didn't continue that. It is nice when a youngster plays with you and dominates. Communication is very important when the batting in the middle and I try to communicate with them, give them confidence. Happy with the form but disappointed that it didn't help the team win. I will look back and see what I can do better.
Sikandar Raza: This is my first PSL and it is a massive achievement. We are the defending champions and it gives us a chance to win it again. The message from the start was to reach the final. Our focus was on the start and if we get that then the middle overs will take care of itself. Billings and Tahir had a good partnership and set up the platform for the chase. We all looked after ourselves after the Qualifier and everybody was fit. Shaheen allows us to speak and he tells the senior guys like myself, Billings and Wiese to speak, even when the opposition were 100 in 11 overs we were not worried.
22:43 Local Time, 17:43 GMT, 23:13 IST: So a repeat of last year's final - Lahore v Multan. First time that Lahore have chased successfully this season and what a time to do it. Despite the loss of three wickets, the youngster Tahir Baig kept playing his shots and he found Billings who with his experience steered Lahore forward. Their 50-run stand kept the innings on track despite Baig's iffy running. He had already run Shafique out and one feels Peshawar may have missed a trick when they did not appeal for obstructing the field when Billings curved his run to get hit by the ball when he was clearly out of his ground. After Baig and Billings fell, Sikandar Raza's cameo helped take Lahore closer. Fittingly Shaheen Afridi finished it off with a six to take Lahore to their 2nd final in a row. Peshawar would be disappointed for they had runs on the board and Lahore had lost all games while chasing this season. And Salman Irshad and Aamer Jamal did not get the reverse they got last night. Too many predictable slower balls into the pitch did not help either. Frustration for Babar and Co. but Sammy is still sporting a smile at the end. Stay tuned for the presentation...
18.5 Salman Irshad to Shaheen Afridi, SIX, Lahore into the final. Full and a half-volley in the slot and Shaheen Afridi gets forward to loft straight down the ground, all the way and that's a great way to end for Lahore
18.4 Salman Irshad to Shaheen Afridi, FOUR, that should be that. A low full-toss outside off, slogged over mid-on and just 2 needed now
18.3 Salman Irshad to Wiese, 1 run, goes for the yorker on off, driven to sweeper cover
18.2 Salman Irshad to Shaheen Afridi, 1 run, full on the stumps, Shaheen Afridi closes the face of the bat too early, a thick leading-edge rolls back straight down the ground
18.1 Salman Irshad to Wiese, leg byes, 1 run, a slower ball into the pitch, Wiese is through the pull early, is hit on the right arm, they take another legbye
LHQ: 163-6 after 18 overs
17.6 Azmatullah to Wiese, 1 run, full outside off, Wiese opens the face of the bat and square-drives to sweeper cover, retains the strike with that run
17.5 Azmatullah to Shaheen Afridi, leg byes, 1 run, pitches miles outside the leg-stump and Azmatullah is appealing for an LBW. More silliness. They take a legbye as Shaheen Afridi flicks and misses
Shaheen Afridi, left handed bat, comes to the crease
17.4 Azmatullah to Raza, out Bowled!! Azmatullah cleans up Raza. Raza makes room to slash the low full-toss, misses it and the off-stump is pegged back. Raza looks for a no-ball for height, but that's just silly from him. Walks off. Raza b Azmatullah 23(14) [4s-3]
Azmatullah to Raza, THATS OUT!! Bowled!!
17.3 Azmatullah to Raza, FOUR, a slower short ball on the stumps, Raza waits and pulls over short fine-leg, so easy
17.2 Azmatullah to Wiese, 1 run, back of a length outside off, Wiese cuts to third man for one
17.1Azmatullah to Raza, 1 run, dropped by Aamer Jamal from sweeper cover. A short ball outside off, slashed in the air and Jamal ran forward, got both hands on that but dropped it
Azmatullah Omarzai [3.0-0-23-1] is back into the attack
