Peshawar Zalmi vs Lahore Qalandars, 23rd Match
Peshawar Zalmi won by 35 runs
Game 1 for the day is done. The table toppers have been toppled. Peshawar batted really well and that set them up for a good performance. Shaheen had a field day with the ball and then with the bat but that didn't help much. Switch tabs to follow the next game...
Babar Azam: When we started, the wicket was good. We played really well. Saim batted well and played his natural game. They executed their plans. We wanted to have a left-hand and right-hand combination. We lost a few wickets in the last five overs. You should improve in every match. We should have done better in the bowling department after the 10-over mark.
Shaheen Afridi: We lost too many wickets early. 200 plus shouldn't have been given away. We should have batted better.
Saim Ayub: We wanted to play attacking cricket. And execute our plans. We try to form plans keeping the opponents in mind. Our target was 200 plus. We wanted to go beyond that as well.
17:55 Local Time, 12:55 GMT, 18:25 IST: At the half-way mark, things looked a little iffy as Peshawar didn't play their quota of overs. But Peshawar bowled brilliantly upfront to almost pocket the game. They picked up early wickets to put pressure. But then Talat and Shaheen got fifties to evoke some sort of a chance. Raza also played a cameo but too much was left for too late. Arshad and Wahab were the pick of the bowlers who managed to pick up three-fers. Lahore have succumbed to their second loss. Peshawar would be elated with the two points.
