Commentary

So that's it from the first one of the day. Join us again later for the clash between Comilla Victorians and Dhaka Dominators. See you there!

Nurul, Rangpur Riders captain: The way they batted worked for the team. We have good batting depth. Have good bowling options. It's a balanced team. We discussed about believing in ourselves.

Shoaib Malik, Player of the Match: I was in two minds - should I take bowlers on or take it deep. Then I decided that if I feel comfortable against a particular bowler, I'll take him on. I felt comfortable against Taijul. He's a brilliant bowler. But today particularly I felt comfortable against him. Credit to my partner as well (Azmatullah). He hit some boundaries when required. We had a 100-run partnership.

Shuvagata Hom, Chattogram captain: We bowled well in the Powerplay but couldn't back it up in the end overs, that's what cost us. (On the chase) We didn't bat well in the Powerplay and I tried to steady the ship after that. I thought the wicket was very good, if we could have batted well in the Powerplay, we would have done well.

16:47 Local Time, 10:47 GMT, 16:17 IST: A crushing win for Rangpur Riders here in Dhaka. It was a brilliant knock from Shoaib Malik that took them to 179. And their bowlers have defended it comfortably. It was only during the partnership between captain Shuvagata Hom and Ziaur Rahman that Chattogram looked like posing a threat, but that didn't last long and wickets tumbled thereafter. They also missed Afif Hossain who was unavailable to bat due to illness. Among the Rangpur bowlers, Haris Rauf picked up 3 wickets and Rakibul did some damage at the top with two wickets in two overs. All set for the presentations.

16.3 Haris Rauf to Taijul Islam, out Caught by Shoaib Malik!! Short ball across off, Taijul ramps it in the air and it goes straight to third man. That's it. Afif Hossain isn't well and won't come out to bat. Rangpur Riders win by 55 runs. Taijul Islam c Shoaib Malik b Haris Rauf 1(4)

15.6 Mahedi Hasan to Taijul Islam, 1 run, fired in full on off, Taijul looks to drive and drags it off a thick inside edge past leg stump

Taijul Islam, left handed bat, comes to the crease

15.5 Mahedi Hasan to Mehedi Hasan Rana, out Stumped!! There's an appeal for a stumping! Third umpire is having a look. It's tossed up around off, dips on Mehedi as he looks to drive and turns past the edge. His back foot came out of the crease as he came stretching forward on the drive. Does he get it back in time? Oh that's very close. His foot is right on the line. Hard to say if he's got anything behind it. The third umpire takes a look at the zoomer, and decides there's nothing behind the line. OUT is the decision. Mehedi Hasan Rana st Nurul Hasan b Mahedi Hasan 0(2)
