Commentary

We had two really good games today. First a run chase where the Giants came from behind to stun the Vipers and then the Emirates almost stealing it from the Capitals. The Giants will be in action again tomorrow when the play the Warriors. We will see you in the evening again. Goodnight!

Powell | PoTM: I enjoyed. We knew the pitch was good, so tried to make good use of it. Just tried to pick up what the bowlers are trying to do, the pitch is a belter for the batters. Finally, three defeats on the trot is not a good feeling. We were up against a top team today. (About catching being difficult due to the floodlights) Fabien Allen is a perfect example. Once he moved away you know it's difficult because he is a wonderful fielder and you won't see him doing that.

Pollard: We showed the fight. To show the attitude to get close to 220 is fantastic from the batters. Sometimes we may get a great start and lose three quickly. Today we didn't start well. These things happen. Can't fault much from the guys. Under-par with the ball. Ball was still moving for 7-8 overs. We could used it a bit better. These things happen. Two games on the bounce, so can't fault them too much. We did discuss the NRR scenario and spoke about closing it as much as possible.

21:45 Local Time, 17:45 GMT, 23:15 IST: Finally, the Capitals manage to end their losing streak, although this is not how they would have like to close the game. The winning streak comes to an end for the Emirates but they can be proud of their fightback. The Capitals bossed the show with the bat with Powell and Root smashing the ball to all corners. Then the Emirates top order had an absolute struggle against the swinging ball. But a determined Pollard bulldozed his way out of nowhere to transfer the pressure back onto the Capitals. With him going berserk, the Capitals started to worry big time but Karunaratne took a smart catch to get rid of Pollard. But Karunaratne himself bowled a 29-run over to tease his own team. From bowling a wicket-maiden to being smashed for 48 runs in his last two overs, it was quite a roller-coaster for the Sri Lankan all-rounder. The Emirates fans would be wondering if only Fletcher connected a few better, the result could have gone their way.

MIE: 206-5 after 20 overs

19.6 Karunaratne to Samit Patel, 1 run, full toss, smashed into the stumps at the bowler's end and they take the single for the deflection

19.5 Karunaratne to Samit Patel, SIX, slower full delivery, Samit waits and smashes it down the ground. The leggie from Karunaratne and it disappears

19.4 Karunaratne to Samit Patel, SIX, short and wide, cut handsomely over point

19.3 Karunaratne to Fletcher, 1 run, slower delivery, Fletcher slaps it uppishly to long-off

19.2 Karunaratne to Samit Patel, 1 run, yorker outside off stump, Patel slices it to third man

19.1 Karunaratne to Samit Patel, FOUR, slower delivery outside off stump, sliced over backward point and five legal straight deliveries will now take the Capitals home

Just six sixes needed now. It's that simple!

MIE: 187-5 after 19 overs

18.6 Fred Klaassen to Fletcher, 2 runs, low full toss, Fletcher driven to long-off and just two

18.5 Fred Klaassen to Fletcher, no run, wide yorker outside off stump, Fletcher swings and misses. Not called wide because Fletcher was moving across

18.5 Fred Klaassen to Fletcher, wide, way outside off stump

18.4 Fred Klaassen to Fletcher, no run, nails the wide yorker and it's not becoming very tough for the Emirates

18.3 Fred Klaassen to Samit Patel, leg byes, 1 run, slower delivery, Samit looks to flick, misses and gets hit on the pad

Samit Patel, right handed bat, comes to the crease

18.2 Fred Klaassen to Najibullah, out Bowled!! Yorker ignites the stumps. Cross seam dipping yorker, Najibullah moves across and tries to flick, ball sneaks between his legs to smash middle and leg. End of an outstanding cameo from Najibullah. Najibullah b Fred Klaassen 30(9) [4s-1 6s-4]

Fred Klaassen to Najibullah, THATS OUT!! Bowled!!

18.1 Fred Klaassen to Fletcher, 1 run, mistimed loft straight down the ground
