Dubai Capitals vs Gulf Giants, 8th Match
Gulf Giants won by 101 runs
So three teams are unbeaten in this comp thus far and look pretty good. The Knight Riders and the Warriors are yet to open their account and tomorrow is a great opportunity for the Knight Riders to get their first points when they play the Desert Vipers in Abu Dhabi. Do join us for the game. Goodnight!
James Vince | PoTM | Giants captain: It's nice. Pleasing to contribute to the win but three wins is a nice start for us. Some of us have experienced conditions here before. We thought 140-150 would be good but had a good base and Hetmyer and Dawson finished well to get 181. It's nice to be here with the family. As a bowling group we were really good. We spoke about our plans yesterday in practice and executed perfectly. We wanted to bowl back of a length.
Rovman Powell | Capitals captain: I still think it was the right call to bowl first. We didn't bat well and gave away 20-25 runs too much. Just unfortunate that we are playing good cricket only in patches. Batters have to spend more time on such pitches. I still think we are playing good cricket. One bad game doesn't mean we are a bad team. We have played good cricket in two games. Hopefully we will bounce back.
Chris Jordan: Nice little reward (being highest wicket-taker). Most importantly, we've gone three wins out of three. That's what matters to me. Nice for us to bat first and for the batters to relay what they thought was the hardest ball to hit. Ideal length was around the 7-8 metre mark. Boys are looking forward everyday to training, working hard. When you have those kind of dynamics, makes for a healthy setup. (On his technique of taking catches close to the boundary) Normally it's just about having rope awareness. Try to take a little peek (of the rope) as soon as the ball goes up. Find it better to adjust when I go into a side-on position. It's a very individual thing.
21:08 Local Time, 17:08 GMT, 22:38 IST: The Giants beat Capitals by 6 wickets few days ago, now they have thrashed them again by 101 runs. Losing by 101 runs in massive in this format. The Capitals actually lost this with the ball when they took 4 wickets for 14 runs in the middle but let the Giants post 181 when 150 was par. James Vince the star of both the wins for the Giants against the capitals. If not for him, 180 would not have been possible. Made batting simple on a tough pitch. Hetmyer got those extra runs at the end to make it definitely above par. With the luxury of extra runs, the bowlers kept it simple. Bowled wicket to wicket and let pressure do its bit on the Capitals batters. Rehan Ahmed won a battle against Root, Shanaka did take him down for three fours in an over but apart from those two batters, none of the Giants could execute with the bat.
