Commentary

That's all from the first contest of the day. Join us back in a while for the game between Desert Vipers and Sharjah Warriors. Ciao!

Sanchit Sharma | Player of the Match: I would like the Giants for picking me. It's my first franchise cricket match. Was a bit nervous. I think the third wicket was a nice one, was good to get that. The captain and the senior bowlers have helped me.

James Vince: Great start. The bowlers set up the game for us. A low total made the run chase a lot easier. It's nice to have lot of options, but at certain times it can be confusing. It was outstanding today. We had few practice games after arriving here. We need to play again tomorrow, so it's going to be a quick turnaround.

Sunil Narine: It was a decent pitch, we didn't get the start we wanted. Well played to them as well. We can falter any decision based on the toss. I think if we had applied ourselves better, it would have been a good game.

17:42 Local Time, 13:42 GMT, 19:12 IST: Gulf Giants open their account with an emphatic win, and that's the second loss of the tournament for Abu Dhabi Knight Riders. They lost while chasing against Dubai Capitals, and they have lost while defending today. Stirling and Russell chipped in with small contributions, but others weren't able to do so. In reply, the Giants lost an early wicket of Rehan Ahmed, but their captain - James Vince played a fantastic knock and put his team in a commanding position. He departed with only 21 runs to get, and the Giants lost a few wickets in quick succession, but they managed to get over the line comfortably in the end. Stay tuned for the presentations..
