Paarl Royals vs Joburg Super Kings, 4th Match
Paarl Royals won by 7 wkts
Paarl Royals get off the mark in front of their home crowd with a thumping win. The Super Kings got out of jail in the first game but they couldn't repeat that feat today and the onus will be on their top-order to deliver the goods in the next outing. On that note, it's time to bring the curtains down on this match. There's one more SA20 game lined up today. Join us in a bit for MI Cape Town vs Durban Super Giants. Let's hope that it's a close encounter. See you there...
David Miller: Coming back from the loss, it wasn't a great start. The guys executed whatever they needed to do today. Getting off to a great start in the powerplay is always great as a captain. You feel like you are ahead in the game. Getting the bonus point, very happy with that. (On Lungi Ngidi bowling three overs on the trot) He's more than happy to bowl three in a row. I tried to create pressure and keep the momentum going. It's about trusting your instincts, the bowlers helped me out today. We didn't discuss anything (on how to chase). The guys that we've chosen know their roles.
Bjorn Fortuin | Player of the Match: Pretty special. Our last game wasn't ideal. We knew we had to bounce back and we did that nicely today. It's high risk, high reward. You get smashed around but it does present opportunity to pick wickets. The conditions play well to our hands here. We made good use of it today.
Faf du Plessis: Disappointed with the start, that's stating the obvious. There was nice pace, Lungi bowled beautifully. The score was way way below-par. Assessing the wicket is very important. We have give ourselves a little more time to get our innings going. There were a few soft dismissals today. Malan needs an opening spot more than I needed.
16:10 Local Time, 14:10 GMT, 19:40 IST: A stroll in the park for Paarl Royals! Disciplined bowling coupled with shambolic batting performance saw Joburg Super Kings getting skittled out for 81. In reply, Jason Roy got going with a couple boundaries before holing out at third man. Wihan Lubbe, at three, came out all guns blazing, hit a flurry of boundaries and perished in the final over of the powerplay looking to go inside-out over the covers. The hosts had wiped off more than 50% of the target in six overs and the result was a foregone conclusion. The Royals had to achieve the target inside 16 overs to claim a bonus point and they accomplished it in 10.3 overs. Jos Buttler, who notched up a fifty in the tournament-opener in a losing cause, hit the winning runs today. A day to forget for Joburg. Stay tuned, presentations coming up in a bit...
