Player of the Match

Pakistan have lost three on the bounce and have some work to do, especially with their fragile looking middle-order. All these matches are just a precursor to the upcoming World Cup, but England have laid the marker despite being down with a depleted squad. Can the hosts bounce back in two days time? We'll be back on Thursday for the second game at the same venue. Do join us for all the action. For now, cheers and bye..

Moeen Ali | Winning captain - Brilliant performance, they got off to a great start, but we pulled things back in the middle overs, the bowlers were excellent. On a tough surface, I thought the batters did well. Rashid and Wood's debut was outstanding, and was a good all-round performance from the bowling unit. We were smart with the chase, Alex Hales, batting after such a long time, he was nervous but showed why he's one of the best in the country. Brook showed why he's rated so highly back home, their partnership was wonderful to watch.

Babar Azam | Losing captain - We utilized the batting powerplay well, but we let the momentum slip after the 10th over. Credit to their bowlers, but we were not up to the mark and we didn't get the partnerships. They worked out the conditions well, but our batters should have done better. We're trying different combinations before the World cup, we'll test our bench strength and then go to the tournament with our best team

Luke Wood | Player of the Match - It was an enjoyable debut. It's different to England, it was a team performance and great to start with a win. They were off to a good start, so it was important to restrict them at the back end with wickets and the batters then did a good job.

22:52 Local Time, 17:52 GMT, 23:22 IST: A thoroughly professional chase from England and they go 1-0 up in the 7-match T20I series. Alex Hales held one end up, bringing up his 9th T20I fifty upon return to the England national team. Phil Salt, Dawid Malan and Ben Duckett all got starts, but it was the Hales and Brook partnership that broke the back of this chase. While the former was a tad scratchy, the latter was all class, finding the gaps with precision and keeping the rate under complete control. Pace went for runs, the leg-spinner Qadir was expensive but did get a couple of wickets while Mohammed Nawaz wheeled away at the other end. Stay tuned for the presentations

19.2 Dahani to Harry Brook, FOUR, England win by 6 wickets, a sublime boundary to cap it off by Brook - backed away, gets a full-toss and drills the drive wide of extra-cover, runs away to the ropes in a hurry

19.1 Dahani to Harry Brook, no run, excellent yorker from Dahani, full and just outside off - Brook backed away and can't get bat to ball, 3 needed off 5 balls

Shahnawaz Dahani [3.0-0-34-1] is back into the attack

18.6 Haris Rauf to Harry Brook, 1 run, Rauf shortens the length around middle, nudged in front of square on the on-side for a single

18.5 Haris Rauf to Moeen Ali, 1 run, short of a good length and just outside off, Moeen went hard on the cut and mistimed it to the off-side for a single

18.4 Haris Rauf to Moeen Ali, no run, Rauf shortens the length and angles one back into the left-hander, a wild swing and a miss from Moeen

18.3 Haris Rauf to Moeen Ali, no run, the slower short ball from Rauf, Moeen was early into the pull and missed, bounced through to the keeper

18.2 Haris Rauf to Harry Brook, 1 run, short of a length and at the stumps, tucked behind square on the on-side for a single

18.1 Haris Rauf to Harry Brook, FOUR, deft touch from Brook, back of a length and just outside off - he lets the ball come, uses the pace on the ball, opens the face of the bat and then steers it backward of point for a boundary

10 needed off 12 balls, surely England can't lose it from here

ENG: 149-4 after 18 overs

17.6 Naseem Shah to Moeen Ali, no run, on a good length and around the off-stump channle, dropped in front of cover

17.5 Naseem Shah to Harry Brook, 1 run, yorker length delivery on middle, squeezed in front of square on the off-side for a single

17.4 Naseem Shah to Harry Brook, no run, back of a length and at the stumps, Brook was backing away on the dab and is undone by the pace

17.3 Naseem Shah to Moeen Ali, 1 run, back of a length and angling across the left-hander, steered square on the off-side for a single

17.2Naseem Shah to Moeen Ali, FOUR, nicely played, wide full-toss from Naseem - Moeen leans into the drive and creams it wide of cover, runs away across the fast outfield
